Wyke SOGB Cycling Nationals Results
Last weekend, 41 athletes participated in a successful national cycling competition at Wyke Community Sports Village. Despite cool conditions, the event ran smoothly, thanks to 49 volunteers and coaches. Athletes from across the UK, including 13 first-time competitors, raced in 3km and 5km events. Medals were awarded to participants, and over 40 supporters cheered on the cyclists. The event brought together athletes, supporters, and volunteers in an overwhelmingly positive competition, setting the stage for an even greater event in 2025.
Representing both Mossley and the North West were Andrew, Daniel, Jason, Milena, and Yasmin, all were an absolute joy to have on the team, the passion, tenacity and sportsmanship was incredible to see and be part of.
We saw Milena step up a gear and take part in the 10k TT - her first time in this competition and the only female rider. Daniel came into his own in the 10k and was smiling throughout as he took gold. Overall we took 2 x Golds, 1 x Silver, 3 x Bronze, 5 x Participation medals a great haul from the weekends work.
