Fundraising Superstar Joel,

Joel at the finish line. Covering the staggering 174 miles.

One of our Go Ride cyclists is 9 yr old Joel, rain or shine he attends all the training, his smile, passion and enthusiasm is infectious. A shining ambassador for the club and his peers.

Over the Jubilee weekend he wanted to cycle across the country (he has previously conquered the C2C and Trans Pennine over the last 2 yrs) this year we decided on Hadrians Wall 174 miles.

Joels friend Libby in his class at school has received treated at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for leukaemia so he asked if we could raise money for the Hospital. Libby fell ill over the Christmas period of 2018 and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on 2nd January 2019.  She immediately began an intense phase of chemotherapy treatment and a lengthy stay on Ward 84 of the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.  Libby's treatment lasted for over two and a half years, where she received incredible support from the team on Ward 84.

Joels family set up a JustGiving page and were amazed at the response.

They set off cycling on the 2nd June at Ravenglass and completed on the 5th June at South Shields. It was a family affair with Joel, his sister Florence aged 5 on the bike of his mum Liz’s bike, his grandma aged 69 and his great auntie aged 66.
